Supporting Others With A Full Tank
Share viaIt feels so good and it’s a wonderful gift to show up for someone who is struggling. Lend a listening ear, show empathy, be a sounding board, or offer guidance if asked.
But do you ever feel guilty because you are having a great day, your life is going good, and you aren’t suffering like they are? It doesn’t seem fair or feel right to be having a great day when someone you care about is struggling.
Consider this. You didn’t do anything wrong by having a full tank today. It’s because you are full that you can be there for someone else. Today you are a blessing to them. Embrace that and be grateful.
Tomorrow you might be the one struggling. Your tank might be empty and you need someone to lean on.
On those days, it’s OK to reach out and ask for help. If, at first, you don’t find someone who is full and able to support you, keep looking. It’s OK to lean on others and let them be the blessing too.
