Process Communication Model® (PCM)

Created by Dr. Taibi Kahler, the Process Communication Model (PCM) is an award-winning tool that can be used to decode human interaction. PCM reveals how a person perceives the world, how they communicate, how they are motivated and how they will behave in distress. An internationally-acclaimed, reliable, behaviorally-based communication model, PCM can be used to help you better connect with others, while raising your own self-awareness. Known as “The tool to make a daily difference,” PCM equips you to find true connection, both with others and yourself.

Leverage Individual Differences for Compassionate Communication

The Process Communication Model identifies six distinct personality types found within each person: Thinker, Persister, Rebel, Promoter, Harmonizer, and Imaginer. PCM provides invaluable insight into the ways these types influence how an individual thinks, feels and behaves. By recognizing the profound differences in how each of us filters and experiences the world, PCM allows you to predict and positively influence behavior in ourselves and others. PCM also fosters a deeper appreciation for personality differences, which enables us to embrace diversity as an invaluable strength – in our homes, in our offices, in our communities and in our world.

How Does PCM Work?

Proven Outcomes

Used by individuals and organizations alike, PCM delivers life-changing results – and the numbers prove it. In partnership with Indiana State University, we conducted a three-year study of PCM training impact in six different countries. The results showed significant, lasting positive impact for participants:

  • Personal relationships – 60% improvement
  • Work relationships – 63% improvement
  • Leadership skills – 61% improvement
  • Team performance – 62% improvement
  • Personal Efficacy – significant increases that lasted more than six-weeks post training
  • Recommendation – 96% of participants would recommend PCM to others
  • Comparison to other models – 95% of our own training participants rate PCM as superior to any other model of communication and individual differences they’ve experienced

A transnational European study published in 2021 surveyed over 500 PCM training participants on their use of the tools post-training. Results showed:

  • Learning transfer with PCM is 2-3x higher than the industry average.
  • Participants use the tools on a daily basis, even up to a year post-training.
  • PCM training promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.

Forget traditional models like Myers-Briggs and DiSC, both of which I have used for years. This assessment offers unlimited potential for understanding not only my communication behavior but – more importantly, how I can better communicate when I also understand words, phrases and actions of others. Perfect insights for anyone who desires to improve relationships, employee engagement, and motivation.
